Adams Ranch covers 18,000 acres along the Rio Grande and is embedded in one of the largest conservation areas in North America.

To the south is the El Carmen Land and Conservation project, managed and owned by Cemex Corporation, which extends from the river to the Carmen Mountains in Mexico. Big Bend National Park is to the west and Black Gap Wildlife Management Area is to the east. Together this amounts to 3 million acres of the Chihuahuan Desert set aside for conservation.
